Sjögrens Syndrome is also an autoimmune disease which attacks the glands which produce fluid, such as tears and saliva. The symptoms present as dry eyes and a dry mouth, the eyes have a feeling of grittiness and discomfort is felt as a reaction to light and the lids may drag. Drops or artificial tears are helpful. Avoid dry and air-conditioned environments, where possible use humidifiers.
